The Waste Reduction Program oversees City-wide programs and services for commercial waste collection.

Commercial Collection Service

MarBorg offers commercial collection services and equipment with cans, carts, or bins. Cans are available in 32-gallons for backyard service. Carts are available in 35, 65, and 95-gallon sizes. Bins are available in 1.5, 2, 3, and 4-cubic yards. Roll-offs and compactors are available for large-volume trash producers. MarBorg will customize your level of service, including your container sizes and number of weekly pickups, to uniquely suit your company’s needs. Service will be provided 1-6 days per week, on a schedule that works for your business.

Businesses services include trash, green waste, recycling, and are also eligible to participate in the Foodscraps Composting Program. Please give us a call at (805) 963-1852 for more details. Visit MarBorg's website for more information.

Commercial Service Highlight:

  • Foodscraps Composting Program: Divert your organic waste from landfill disposal and get it composted at the Santa Barbara County ReSource Center.
    • Foodscraps and food soiled paper products are ideal for this program.
      • Paper that is clean and dry can be recycled in your blue bin.
      • Paper that is soiled with water, grease, or other food can be composted in your yellow bin.
    • Waste must be loose in the container or contained with a Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) Certified Bag. No plastic trash bags allowed.

Organics Recycling Requirements:

  • Commercial businesses who generate 2 cubic yards of waste or more may be required to obtain yellow bin service for food scraps through MarBorg. The City will be conducting mailings and outreach to businesses that may meet the requirements. Alternative compliance options are available based on need.
  • Some businesses may need to participate in the Edible Food Recovery Program based on the size and type of the business. Unsure if you need to participate? Review this helpful information about Tier 1 and Tier 2 Generators and email environmentalservices@cityofgoleta.org with any questions.
