Welcome to The Goleta Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Webpage!
The City of Goleta is fortunate to have approximately 550 acres of city parks and open space. Goleta's parks and playground facilities consist of nine neighborhood parks, five community parks, nine neighborhood open spaces, six regional open spaces, one community center, and three mini parks. Exploring nature is an important part of the Goleta lifestyle and your parks and open spaces are opportunities for residents to experience outdoors. The City of Goleta recognizes that local parks and recreation opportunities are an integral part of a happy, healthy, community and we strive to meet the needs of our residents. Enjoy!
To meet the desires of the community and address aging infrastructure, the City of Goleta has participated in a variety of studies. These assessments have provided the opportunity to gain an understanding of community desires, existing opportunities and conditions, as well as the ability to prioritize improvements. In 2015, The Goleta City Council approved a Recreation Needs Assessment Report, which provided a recommendation to enhance the quality of life in Goleta. This in turn led to the creation of the a Parks, Facilities and Playgrounds Master Plan which would create a roadmap for upgrades, expansions and any potential additions to the City parks system.
If on your visit to one of the parks and open spaces a concern arises, it is encouraged that all residents report any problems, questions, or matters through the City Assist System. Residents assisting in this way provides the City the ability to address and resolve any issue quickly, preserving the quality of these treasured areas for all the community members to enjoy.
