Description

This project replaced the Los Carneros Overhead Bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad. The new bridge provides two through lanes in each direction, a free right turn lane from northbound Los Carneros to southbound Route 101, Class II bike lanes in each direction and a sidewalk on the west side. The plant establishment period for new landscaping installed with the project will end in June of 2016.

Purpose and Need

This project replaced a structurally deficient bridge and resolve capacity deficiencies for northbound Los Carneros Road to southbound onramp to Route 101, and enhance bicyclist safety on the bridge.

Funding Sources

Funding for this project was a combination of Highway Bridge Program (HBP), and Goleta Transportation Improvement Program (GTIP) funds.

The project was completed in April 2015 and the project is being closed out with Caltrans.
