The City's Local Coastal Program (LCP) project includes the preparation of the City's LCP package for the California Coastal Commission’s review and ultimately, certification. The project includes analysis of the portion of the City located within the Coastal Zone and the development of related policy for the following issue areas: public access, recreation and visitor servicing facilities, sea level rise, water quality protection, sensitive habitats and other natural resource protection, land use and new development standards, coastal scenic resources protection, and energy and industrial development standards. Community outreach will occur as part of the project. The City's adopted General Plan will be utilized as the foundation of the LCP.
California Coastal Commission's LCP Update Guidance Documents can be viewed on the Coastal Commission's website here.
City of Goleta Draft Coastal Hazards Vulnerability and Fiscal Impact Report:
Special emphasis has been placed on the issue of climate adaptation/coastal resiliency as a result of climate change. This requires mapping of coastal hazards (i.e. sea level rise); a risk assessment of vulnerable infrastructure, coastal resources, and people, and a fiscal impact analysis to support the development of both policy and regulatory language to address climate induced hazards ranging from sea level rise, wildfire, and drought. The resulting City of Goleta Draft Coastal Hazards Vulnerability and Fiscal Impact Report can be downloaded HERE.
