The highest priority of the City is the safety and well-being of its residents. The City is protected and well-served by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office (Goleta Police Department) and the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The Goleta Police Department is headed by a Chief of Police Services and includes a Motor Traffic Unit and two Community Resource Deputies. Meet your Goleta Police Department here.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department has three fire stations located in the City of Goleta and plans are underway for a fourth station (Fire Station 10).

It is imperative that community members are signed up for both County and City emergency alerts. Stop now and make sure you are registered for ReadySBC.org alerts via text and/or email. This is how you will be notified during an emergency. If the emergency impacts Goleta, the City of Goleta will be sending emergency notifications through its notification system. In addition to text and emails, the City also has a phone notification system, Blackboard Connect, to use during an emergency or to relay timely information regarding a city-wide event. To have your phone number(s) added, send an e-mail with your phone number to jshaw@cityofgoleta.org. Please indicate if the number is a landline or cell.

Remember if we can't reach you we can't alert you.

Additionally, Animal Control Services are provided through Santa Barbara County in order to establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment between humans and animals. Animal Control also handles issues regarding barking dog complaints.
