The Economic Development Program (Econ Dev Program) within the City Manager's Office is responsible for planning and organizing citywide economic development and promotional activities. The Econ Dev Program develops, implements, coordinates, and monitors economic development programs consistent with City policy; develops strategies to improve the economic strength of the City through business attraction, retention and expansion, and job creation; performs complex, advanced level professional, technical, analytical, and administrative work.
The Econ Dev Program coordinates the execution of the goals and objectives of the City’s Economic Development Strategic Plan, including but not limited to the implementation of the Plan, administration of the Economic Development Revitalization Committee, assisting start-ups and small businesses, providing City representation to the Goleta Entrepreneurial Magnet (GEM), and more.
