The City of Goleta is divided into four districts. Find out which district you live in by using our Interactive Map. Type your address into the top left-hand search bar and click on the search icon. Your search results will show the district of the address provided.

It's important to know your district because Goleta City Council seats are now voted on by-district (with the exception of the Mayor who is at-large). The City's first district elections was held in November 2022 - registered voters in Districts 1 and 2 elected City Councilmembers from the District in which they live. The two western districts, Districts 3 and 4, will be decided upon in the following election in November of 2024. The Mayor’s seat will be on the November 2024 ballot as well and is voted on city-wide.

Background

In February 2022, the City Council approved Goleta's first ever district elections map after a year-long comprehensive #DrawGoleta outreach campaign. The Goleta community stepped up and submitted more than 50 draft maps. Those public maps, as well as five submitted by a demographic consultant, were considered by the Public Engagement Commission and City Council. After several public hearings, Council selected a map at its February 24, 2022, meeting.  At that same meeting, they also selected an election sequence in which Districts 1 and 2 would be up for election in 2022, and Districts 3 and 4 would be up for election in 2024.

The Council next adopted a District Elections Ordinance at its March 1 meeting.  The Ordinance formally established the district boundaries and sequencing of the elections. The Council held a second reading of the Ordinance at its March 15 meeting.

Public participation was a critical part of this historic process for our city, and we thank everyone who contributed to this important process.
