What really happened in the Earth during the 9.0 magnitude earthquake in Japan that caused a deadly tsunami, or during the 1994 Northridge earthquake, or the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, with its fallen section of the Bay Bridge? Prof. Tanimoto will explain these earthquakes and share how much we know about the processes that cause them.
