CROSSING AND DWELLING: Visualizing Muslim, Hindu, and Christian Pilgrimages in a Global Age
by Professor Juan Campo, Dept. of Religious Studies, UCSB
Today's mass pilgrimages can draw millions of people: the hajj to Mecca, the tirthayatro to a Hindu shrine in India, the journeys to Compostela in Spain and Guadalupe in Spain. Prof. Campo will discuss these pilgrimages and how the visual arts and media motivate people to join the crowds in a global age.
