The Goleta Library will host a presentation for parents of high school students going through the college application procedure. Customizing the College Search. The session will be led by local college counselors and experts Tish O’Connor and Betsy Heafitz.
“Fit” is today’s mantra in college search. Find out how to help your student identify colleges that offer the strongest programs for their interests and passions. Counselors will introduce tools to create and refine a college list that is right for your student. Are all the UCs alike? (No!) Learn to differentiate among programs and identify strong departments, whether at the UCs, nursing, business, or engineering schools, or “Colleges that Change Lives.” Compare art schools vs. liberal arts colleges with a great art department. Could a gap year make students in the International Baccalaureate program more competitive applicants? Which schools are the most supportive of students with learning disabilities? Join us to learn where to start and how to use available resources to find great college options for your child.
