SPEAKER: UCSB Prof. Herbert Cole, Dept. of History of Art and Architecture -
Prof. Cole has collected African beads since 1966, and is one of the first art historians to conduct specific field research and publish on the uses and meanings of beads in Ghana and Kenya. He will discuss beads and beadwork throughout Africa, and will bring beads from his collection.
