City to Hold Monarch Butterfly Docent Training on Thursday, November 20, 5:30pm at City Hall
[Goleta, CA. 12:30 PM] - The City of Goleta in cooperation with the Coronado Butterfly Preserve is continuing, for a second year, the Monarch Butterfly Docent Program to provide information to the visiting public on the background, history and lifecycle of the Monarch Butterflies that winter in the Ellwood Preserve.
"It is really a magical sight to behold – the thousands of Monarch Butterflies that winter at the Ellwood Preserve," said Steve Chase, Planning and Environmental Services Director. "People come from all over to visit the Preserve during this time of year, so having trained docents providing information really complements the experience," Chase said.
The Docent Training will be held on November 20, 2008 at 5:30 pm at the City Hall City Council Chambers. Docents will work 2-3 hour shifts on the weekends starting December 6 through early February.
