The project installed traffic signals at the intersection of Fairview Avenue and Berkeley Road, including all concomitant items such as safety lighting with shielding, a power source, battery backup, controller, video detection, pedestrian push buttons and new crosswalk striping.

By adding these signals, the potential for vehicle conflicts with both pedestrians and bicyclists will be significantly reduced.

Funding for this project was a combination of State and Local Partnership Program (SLPP) and Goleta Transportation Improvement Program (GTIP) funds.

The project was completed in April 2011, one month ahead of schedule and under budget.
