Description

The project added 710 linear feet of concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk along the north side of Stow Canyon Road, west of Goleta Valley Jr. High School, between Carlo Drive and Edgewood Drive. The project also included the construction of a retaining wall along portions of the sidewalk and drainage system modifications.

Purpose and Need

The current sidewalk – along the north side of Stow Canyon Road between Stow Grove Park, the neighborhoods to the north of Stow Canyon Rd between the park and Carlo Drive, and Goleta Valley Jr. High School – is not contiguous. Construction of the infill sidewalk will fill the gap and improve pedestrian safety, and create a safe route to school by installing a continuous sidewalk.

Funding for this project was a combination of Measure A Alternative Transportation Grants and Measure A local funds.
