Holiday Light Exchange

The South County Energy Efficiency Partnership (SCEEP.org) will be holding a “Holiday Light Exchange” to help residents save money and protect the environment by using less energy this holiday season. The program will continue until supplies run out or December 19 - whichever comes first.

Residents are encouraged to bring one strand of working, incandescent holiday lights to City Hall to exchange for one new energy efficient strand of LED (light emitting diode) holiday lights. There is no cost to exchange lights, but participants must be residential customers of Southern California Edison to be eligible. The supply of lights is limited to one strand per household on a first come, first served basis.

The Hours at City Hall are: Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 5:30pm and Friday 8:00am - 1:00pm.

LED holiday lights rely on a completely different type of technology than do traditional, incandescent holiday lights – using up to 98 percent less energy while maintaining the same level of brightness. Because LED lights produce almost no heat and do not have the same components that cause traditional lights to burn out, they are safer and will last at least 10 times longer than traditional lights.
