Presenting Professor Stefania Tutino, History Department, UCSB
Sunday, May 23, 2:00 p.m., the Friends of the Goleta Valley Library host The Galileo Affair...
Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) was one of the most influential scientists in the history of science. His discoveries and the positions he took in many intellectual debates of his time provoked dramatic reactions. The most famous was his religious condemnation in 1616. Stefania Tutino debunks the myth of Galileo as consistently persecuted religiously, and restores the “old science vs. new science” debate to its proper context.
