For adventurers age 14 and up! Learn about the unique geology of our area, how it was mapped by Thomas Dibblee, and how to read a geologic map, from two experts in the field. This free program will include both a talk and some practical hands-on exercises.

Susie Bartz came to Santa Barbara in 1974, studied geology at SBCC, and has enjoyed leading geology trips ever since. In 2009 she helped publish the maps of legendary geologist Tom Dibblee, who was her friend and mentor, and in whose memory she dedicates her work.
Sabina Thomas grew up in Germany where she received her PhD in Geology. Since she left Berlin for the U.S., she has taught at colleges and universities in Texas and Ohio until she moved to Santa Barbara in 2010. She has also worked at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden.
