Purpose and Need

Drivers along Hollister Avenue have a low compliance rate to stop for pedestrians at the crosswalk. The existing crosswalk does not seem to capture the driver’s attention and pedestrians must wait for gaps in traffic to cross the street safely. The Rapid Flashing Beacons system has success in grabbing drivers’ attention and increasing compliance to stop for pedestrians at the crosswalk.
