Councilmember Aceves
 

Roger S. Aceves was elected to Goleta City Council in 2006. He served as Mayor Pro Tempore for the 2008 year and was elected by the City Council as Mayor for the 2009 term.

Mr. Aceves serves on the following City committees: The Community Development Block Grant Action Plan Committee, the Finance Committee, the Green Issues Committee, the Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Committee, the Energy Issues Committee, the Goleta West Sanitary District Detachment Committee, the Legislative Issues Committee, and the Ordinance Review Committee. Aceves is also on the following regional committees: The California Joint Powers Insurance Authority, the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments, the South Coast Gang Task Force Leadership Council, and Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District.

Aceves worked in law enforcement for over 32 years and retired in May of 2007. He began his career in the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department and finished his law enforcement career at the Police Department for the City of Santa Barbara. Aceves is a graduate of the prestigious Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Aceves served as El Presidente for Old Spanish Days in Santa Barbara in 2001, and is a former Governor's appointee to the board of the 19th Agricultural District that runs Earl Warren Showgrounds. He served as President of the Board for four years. He has also been active in many nonprofit organizations and is currently serving on the board of the Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation.

Roger Aceves has been married to his wife Debby for over 32 years and have been Goleta residents since 1982.
