Welcome to the City Clerk's 2016 election information page. Our goal is to provide you with information on this November's election.
The City of Goleta's municipal elections are consolidated with the statewide direct primary and general elections in each even-numbered year. All elections are held in accordance with the provisions of the State of California Elections Code.
The City of Goleta is a general law city and operates under the Council-Manager form of government. As elected officials, the City Council Members represent the citizens of Goleta in the governing process and act on their behalf with regards to the regional and local issues as well as State and Federal legislation. The City Council appoints the City Manager and City Attorney, as well as members of the City's Committees, Commissions and Boards.
- The five-member City Council is elected at-large to serve four year terms.
- The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore are selected annually by the City Council among its members at the first meeting in December.
- The City Council convenes regular meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month and occasionally holds special meetings.
