Application Process

The City of Goleta only accepts job applications for open and active recruitments. All applications must be submitted by the filing deadline. Application materials are reviewed for relevant experience, training, and education; therefore, it is important that your application show all relevant experience, training, and education you possess.  Resumes, cover letters, and other attachments may be included but will not be accepted in lieu of a completed job application.  Submitting an incomplete application could disqualify you from further consideration in the recruitment process.

Upon review of applications, qualified candidates may be invited to participate in an examination process, which could include a written exam, practical exam, or oral board interview. Depending upon the applicant pool, all applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will not necessarily be selected to participate in the examination process.

Prior to submitting a completed job application, be sure to review the corresponding recruitment bulletin for instructions. Some recruitments may require additional information, such as responses to supplemental questions, writing samples, or cover letters.
